Our Minister is Rev Peter Thomas
Peter has been a Baptist minister for 35 years. He first studied science at Trinity Hall Cambridge and took the Charles Fox Prize for the PGCE there before teaching chemistry and computer studies for five years at Watford Grammar School.
Peter trained in Theology (BA 1985, MA 1995) at London Bible College (now London School of Theology) and became Associate Minister of Tunbridge Wells Baptist Church in 1986.
Whilst minister of Borehamwood Baptist Church from 1991 to 1999 they also established a new church, “Elstree Free Church – a different kind of church”. From 1999 Peter was minister of Brentwood Baptist Church and also served for six years as Moderator and then three years as Secretary of Churches Together in Brentwood.
In October 2010 Peter became minister of North Springfield Baptist Church. He served for nine years on the Council of the Eastern Baptist Association as Task Group Leader for Finance and Administration while also retaining an interest in Mission Consultancies. He serves on the EBA Home Mission Grants Committee which directs the support for almost 20 small churches and special mission projects.
Peter is also a Director and Treasurer of The College of Baptist Ministers.
Peter is married to Ruth who has retired as a schoolteacher. Their children are Lizzie (married to Giles with their grandchildren Ellie and Mark), Susie and David. To relax Peter plays piano and guitar and does all kinds of things with computers and they are kept young by a black spaniel called Poppy and by her golden daughter Sophie (any excuse for a spaniel picture!)

In 2018 Peter completed the task of compiling and publishing the eight legacy volumes of the professional journal Ministry Today UK 1994-2018. He has also overseen the publication of a number of other books for The College of Baptist Ministers.
