Dear Sisters and Brothers

NEW NEWS AND IMPORTANT NEWS

Please pray for Lynette who is comfortable at home self-isolating in preparation for treatment. Naomi is now self-isolating in preparation for a cataract operation. Jenny’s stepmother Edna is gravely ill. Please also pray for the families of the father of Luke (Hannah’s fiancé) and Ann (Desmond’s daughter) who have recently died.

Thank you to Rebekah who will be hosting the next three Sunday morning services on Zoom, with Marina preaching on 2nd and 16th August and Rawlings on 9th August.

Sunday evening Zoom Church will continue unless otherwise announced. Tuesday evening’s Draw Near To God prayer meeting is taking a break over August to start again in September. Wednesday morning sitting outside the church and Thursday “Grill the Vicar” are also now taking a break until September.

Love and prayers – Peter

We will hold a MORNING of PRAYER 9 am – 1 pm on Saturday 5th September. More details later.

The Deacons have decided that due to the severe restrictions imposed by the Government guidelines we are not planning to be worshipping together inside our church building before OCTOBER at the earliest.

Until further notice nobody should enter the premises for any purposes other than essential maintenance, cleaning, etc. We need to keep a record of who has entered the premises and when, so if you do so please inform Tricia.

NOW FOR SOME THINGS YOU HAVE SEEN BEFORE

After four months of lockdown, many of us are feeling the stresses and strains of this very different pattern of life. Even as we remain in good health, we may have family and friends who are struggling. Please keep praying for everybody, and supporting each other through letters and phone calls, Facebook and Zoom video chats.

We sent a separate letter about offerings during the Covid lockdown. People have been asking about making payments to the church’s bank account by Bank Transfer. These are the details.
Bank Transfer to: North Springfield Baptist Church Sort Code: 40-52-40   Account Number: 00029369

We can now do some face-to-face meetings again! Up to six people from different households are now allowed to meet outdoors as long as we are not shielding on medical grounds. So Bible studies and prayer meetings can also now meet outdoors. People are also allowed to meet with one other household at a time indoors, subject to social distancing. This means that we are now able to visit each other’s homes, which is really good news! Two households might like to join up to share in on of our our Zoom services together, or to pray and read the Sunday sermon together if you are not able to receive Zoom.

DAILY HOPE PHONE LINE Line – especially if you can’t access the internet you might enjoy a new way of worshipping provided by the Church of England. Daily hope offers music, prayers, and reflections as well as complete worship services available 24 hours a day. Phone  0800 804 8044.

Worshipping Together at Home for Sundays in August

I suggest we do the following either alone or in our families wherever we are, whenever is most convenient to you, in any order you like.

  1. Set aside some time for prayer and reflection. Start that time by praying the Lord’s Prayer.
  2. You might like to sing a song or hymn or two. The words for a number of hymns have been included in previous Newsletters.
  3. Read the Bible Reading and the Message for today.
  4. Pray the Day By Day Prayer and the Prayer of Saint Francis.
  5. Pray for each other in the church, for your family and neighbours and for the world at this time.
  6. Pray a blessing in the words of The Grace
  7. Phone a friend in the church and pray with them.

For the first three Sundays in August Rebekah will be hosting our morning Zoom gatherings with guest speakers, Marina on 2nd and 16th and Rawlings on 9th.

If you can’t join on Zoom, or if you would like some extra sermons, please see the separate booklet of a short series on The Witness of John The Baptist.
