Keith’s story of the difference Jesus makes to his life, from The Difference Jesus Makes
I know I have been a different person since I started going to North Springfield Baptist Church nearly two years ago now. The number of people I know who ask me if I am still going to church, I know some of them attend church regularly, and without exception they are pleased when I say I still attend. What surprises most of them is when I tell them I really enjoy going and they tell me to “keep going”. Obviously I am going to carry on as I enjoy all aspects of the church from Toddlers to Drop In. Most of them I meet give me words of inspiration and encouragement.
I do read the Bible a lot and naturally I am pleased with what I find in the Bible. I find the religion channel on TV very informative. Many of the presenters are young. The overriding factor with all the Reverends and Pastors is the love and forgiveness of God.
What I have learned is that if I don’t pray I worry but I do pray a lot and in the most unlikely of places. I get some funny looks at times they probably think I am chuntering away to myself at bus stops and in the street but I know and hope I am talking to God about various things. One of the fellows on TV says, “Find time hour after hour to pray. Set aside certain times of every day to pray. King David spent a lot of time with God. Jesus used to disappear up a mountain to pray. Do not fear anything. Victory over fear is a faith battle. God said, ‘Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my right hand.’”
One of the books I read said, “The cause of all evils is a failure to know the Scriptures well.” I am reading and will read the Bible continually. I will pray and ask to be “put together.”
In the Bible, the letter to the Colossians chapter 1 verses 15-20 says:
Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. …
My prayer: I have decided to put my trust in God and Jesus. God, I am available. Here I am. Please take me. I know the power of right believing. I know I am very fortunate to have You with me at all times. If I have a decision to make I know You will guide me on my way through this life I have chosen. Thank You Lord for being with me and looking after my family and myself. Dear Lord, please come into every household and every family and show us how great You are! AMEN.
